Day 21: A Dozen Roses by Braid

Today I've decided to post one of my all time favourite songs (it's right up in the top 3, since you asked). I came across Braid a few years ago when I was recommended them as the frontman Bob Nanna was coming to the UK with his post-braid solo project, The City On Film. Braid's Frame & Canvas is the pinnacle of the crossover between emo and math rock. It's a practically perfect album. And 'A Dozen Roses' is possibly one of the greatest not-quite-love songs ever. 'Heaven hits me hard/ in with the new,/ heaven hits me hardly/ in with the noose.' Dark, cryptic and passionate, Braid are rightfully still revered today. The live video below may not be of the best quality but if you know the song at all it's well worth a watch. Otherwise just give it (and the whole album) a few listens.
