Day 25: Las Cruces Jail by Two Gallants

Whilst watching an old Walter Matthau film at 2am this morning involving a bank robbery of the 'Tres Cruces Bank' I was reminded of this song, and a pang of sadness ran through me as I remembered I'd totally neglected Two Gallants in the past couple of years. When What The Toll Tells came out I went to see them play an intimate (read: fucking tiny) in-store at Rough Trade in Neil's Yard, and it was incredible. The most passionate, raucous, folk-tinged duo I have ever come across, this song shows them at their all-out best. One minute bitter and enraged, the next sweet and intricate, Two Gallants are a force that should not be overlooked, and I plan to rectify my neglect swiftly. And you should too.
