Day 43: 4 Chords Of The Apocalypse by Julian Casablancas

When The Strokes' frontman announced his solo album last year it was met with slight anxiety, considering the previous, slightly ill-judged side-projects from Albert Hammond Jr. and Nikolai Fraiture. However, it is by far the strongest record released outside of The Strokes, with some densely layered pop genius nicely complimenting a rather more freeform lyrical style from Casablancas to his most famous work on Is This It? This particular track has a very soulful element to it, with heavy organ chords throughout matched with a crashing chorus. All of which bodes well for the recently-announced forth outing from The Strokes, expected later this year.
