Idiot Pilot's first album was a bit patchy. As a two piece they put on a great live show, an impressively huge sounding mesh of bleeps and riffs and screams and haunting vocals. On second album, Wolves they really found their stride, and even managed to sneak in some guest appearances from the likes of Chris Pennie, but have, as is often the way, sort of faded into obscurity. This is their most 'famous' track from their debut, and it still sounds fantastic.

Day 122: Purple City by Joker & Ginz
Joker is a strange one. He teeters right on the brink of what should be acceptable - his beats are heavy, woozy, staggering affairs that never, thankfully, stray into the distinctly muddy waters of, dare I say it, 'brostep', more commonly known as wobble-heavy student dubstep. His work with Ginz, from straight up tracks to their fabulous remixes of the likes of Basement Jaxx are consistently great, and this 12" with Re-Up on the flipside is the perfect showcase.
Day 121: The Happiest Place on Earth by Desaparecidos
Conor Oberst has created a fair few records in his time, some better than others, but for the most part he's shown that he's a force to be reckoned with, be it alt. country epics with Bright Eyes, awkward hip-hop with Team Rigge (more on that another time), or bile-fueled garage-rock, as seen here. Desa encapsulated Oberst's adolescent rage without ever coming across as, well, embarrassing. This song still stands as a bitter, anti-American rant better than a thousand NOFX records.
Day 120: Fun Fun Destruction by Team Rigge
And here is the time Conor tried his hand at rapping. If only this was the most embarrassing thing he's done.
Day 119: My Other Car Is A Spaceship by Commander Venus
And here is something more embarrassing. That's Conor, aged 13, backed up by none other than Tim Kasher. That's enough Oberst for the time being I feel.
Day 118: New Wu by Raekwon
Lead single, and possibly the hottest joint on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II. Method chorus coupled with classic RZA production, still provides the perfect template it seems.
Day 117: Cobra Lucha by The Bronx
The first self titled Bronx album still stands as their best, Mariachi notwithstanding, and this shows why. Straight up Southern influenced LA Punk. Matt Caughthran not only has one of the best voices in the business, he's also a total fucking dude.
Day 116: Silver Or Lead by Mariachi El Bronx
Yes, so technically I'm bending my own rules here but fuck it, it's what The Bronx would want. Mariachi El Bronx is one of the most uplifting albums of recent memory, and yet Caughthran's lyrics cut as sharp as ever. Their recent set at Live At Leeds to a packed out Brudenell at 11.45pm was one of the best sets I have ever attended. Long live The Bronx.
