Back in 2003 I went to my first ever festival, namely Guilfest in, er, Guildford, of which the headliners were The Undertones (without Feargal Sharkey), The Stranglers (without Hugh Cornwell) and, sporting the full original line-up, the two-tone greats Madness. Madness are pretty unfairly maligned, as many people seem to take them as a joke band, missing the fact that a band can have a sense of humour and still put out some great records. On the way back up to York today in a rare Radio 2 listening session I was reminded of this fact by the brilliant My Girl, and thought it was worth sharing just to put an end to all the Baggy Trousers jokes.
